M&T Charitable Foundation Gift Helps LCCC Students Overcome Transportation Barriers
The M&T Charitable Foundation has awarded a $1,000 contribution to the LCCC Foundation to support student transportation assistance, helping students travel to and from the College's Nanticoke campus and other instructional sites throughout Luzerne County.
Transportation challenges can prevent students from attending classes consistently, participating in workforce training programs, or completing their degrees. Many LCCC students rely on public transit to balance coursework with jobs, family responsibilities, and other obligations.
"Transportation should never be the reason a student is unable to pursue higher education," said 天美传媒 President John Yudichak. "This generous gift from The M&T Charitable Foundation helps remove a real and immediate barrier for our students and strengthens our mission to provide access, opportunity, and workforce pathways for all."
LCCC works closely with the Luzerne County Transportation Authority (LCTA) to ensure bus service connects the Nanticoke campus with communities across Luzerne County, expanding access to education and workforce training throughout the region.
"M&T Bank is proud to partner with 天美传媒 and the Luzerne County Transportation Authority to support this unique collaboration that builds access to educational opportunities for students in our community," said Carmen Magistro, Northern Pennsylvania Regional President for M&T Bank. "This effort continues our long-standing commitment to uplifting the people we serve and harnesses the potential of those pursuing higher education throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania."
LCTA leaders emphasized the critical role public transportation plays in student success and workforce development.
"Our partnership with 天美传媒 is about opportunity," said Robert J. Fiume, Executive Director of the Luzerne County Transportation Authority. "It demonstrates how public transportation can directly contribute to student success. When students can count on reliable transportation, they have the freedom to focus on learning, earning their credentials, and building a future that strengthens Northeastern Pennsylvania's workforce."
